Next Step also helps men identify talents, pursue ambitions, discover opportunities, and ultimately transition out of a shelter into greater stability. Intake Members begin Next Step by developing goals they want to pursue, participating in Community Involvement activities and receiving their bed asment at our Lawrence Street Shelter.

The Day Foundation The first 50 days of Next Step focus on Community Involvement, job skills training, relationship development, financial planning, addiction groups, and Bible-based spiritual development. These prepare members for a successful future. After Next Step, a successful participant will no longer be dependent upon shelters and emergency services.

Instead, they will transition into their own housing, a long-term program or another stable living environment. Next Step members spend anywhere from 50 days to six months at our Lawrence Street Shelter and our Community Center developing a foundation for a successful future.

Members are not eligible to have a job until the completion of their first 50 days of workshops and Community Involvement. The Next Step experience centers around Community Involvement. Finally, the ultimate goal of the New Life Program is to see each participant graduate and provide for their own sustainable housing needs. You will begin your journey as a program candidate at The Crossing, in Northeast Denver. As a program candidate, you will learn about the program, receive health and case management screenings and participate in Mission outreaches and activities. The program candidacy period begins with a day restriction to the facility.

After the restriction, candidacy may last an additional 90 days. As a New Life Program participant, you will be eligible for employment or school outside of the program after approximately 8 months. The New Life Program can take up to months to complete. Many New Life Program graduates also participate in our Post-Graduate Program, which provides further mentoring, ability, counseling, and financial assistance. Graduates also mentor others, as well as volunteer for the Mission while continuing random drug tests. Our transitional programs are deed to help you find long-term stability while you transition out of homelessness. They get tutoring and help with their homework there. Individuals, seniors and families in need who want to rebuild their lives and achieve self-sufficiency are invited to participate in our STAR Transitional Program at The Crossing.

The STAR Transitional Program is a one year program that works with individuals and families experiencing homelessness who are working towards growing as productive, self-sufficient citizens while focusing on long-term stable housing.

Items received by the Mission may not be sold or distributed to employees of our Commodity Assistance Partners.
